| last night i was coming back home on the subway, and i had barely opened my little pocket bible when this young black guy maybe in his 20s comes up to me and starts singing a song by kirk franklin. i thought maybe he was drunk or asking for money so i sort of just went back to reading for a few seconds before i decided to talk to him. i dont really remember or understand everything we talked about since the conversation sort of went all over the place, guided mostly by him...talked about church, how he was slipping cuz he hadn't gone in two weeks, he goes to church on saturday because he goes by the jewish calendar, showed me his fronts, how jesus had fronts and a chain and pinky rings and said bling bling (kidding..the black people around us were smiling), ruth, how i can be a ruth because i'm asian, asked me where my husband was, psalm 28, some people understand the bible and some dont..it takes a lot of studying, bad things in the world but scripture will protect you better than voodoo or anything else...
when i got off the train he basically left me with 'the bible is a powerful thing..remember i told you that'
